Stakeholder meeting notes – 2014/12/11

Attendees:

artists: Lynn Garren, Chris Green, Kyle Knoepfel, Jim Kowalkowski, Marc Paterno
Agenda:
#7450: Issue regarding NOvA FHiCL conversions.  Type conversions are not something that are easy to do in a general sense in the FHiCL setup.  Within the FHiCL language, a value can take one of three types: “atom”, “sequence” or “table”.  An inputed string is encoded into a canonical form in a way that is not necessarily the string of characters that appear in the FHiCL file.  Although the canonicalization process does not truncate any information, retrieving the string as a specific type is not guaranteed to be successful and may fail.
Some discussions about the specific comments made in the issue tracker.
Other:
Next week we will have a topic-specific meeting re. art analysis support.  Some discussion as to what the posted issue actually means.  Suggestion to experiments to bring concrete examples of how they would like analysis support that has some notion of art provenance, etc.
Lynn reports that the Qt5 build of Geant4 is now available for people to test.
[UPDATE: the test has been pulled and a new release is being processed, available only for SLF6.]
The build service is now capable of doing OSX builds, specifically Mavericks.
