ROOT 6.08/02 has been released, however the gallery exception handling problems are still not fixed.
art suite 2.06.00 feature release will include:
- ROOT 6.08
- gcc 6.3 (e14)
- cet::demangle deprecated
- cetlib_except lib added
- canvas libaries consolidated
- Assns/FindOne, etc., improvements
We had a discussion about a possible new feature to print a stack trace when an art exception ends execution of the job. The art suite may be able reuse similar code from LArSoft.
Further details about the ROOT failure to properly handling exceptions in JITed code were discussed, the summary is that the problem come and goes, and there is not yet any time estimate on how long it will take to find and fix the source of the problem. Unless the experiments object we will move forward with the next release in spite of this problem.
